Workforce

Ascend Project

A workforce pathway for teens and young adults who are ready for more.

From disconnection to direction.

Many of the youth we serve want to work, earn, and build a future, and still lack access, guidance, and a structured path. Ascend closes that gap.

Job readiness, mentorship, paid work, and real-world pathways help young people take steps toward employment, stability, and independence. It is about momentum now, not only preparation for later.

Who it’s for

Teens and young adults, most often ages 14–24, who are ready to move and need support to get there. The plan is tailored to their goals and stage of life.

  • Disconnected from school or work
  • Struggling to find or keep employment
  • Facing financial pressure or instability
  • Aging out of foster care or lacking consistent support
  • Looking for direction, structure, and a real opportunity

How it works

Ascend is a step-by-step path of training, mentorship, and experience. The learn-and-earn model recognizes that many youth need income now while they build skills for later. Participants apply what they learn in real settings, with real support. YouthWorks is the work-ready employment pathway inside this effort.

  • Job readiness: resumes, interviews, and workplace skills
  • Mentorship and coaching for accountability
  • Paid internships and on-the-job training
  • Career exploration and skill development
  • A success plan based on strengths and goals

Progress is forward movement. It often starts with a first job or internship, work readiness, re-engagement with school or training, and more consistency.
